Arkendale Neighbourhood Watch
Arkendale Neighbourhood watch is a sub-division of the Harrogate & District Watch
Association. It is run by volunteers in partnership with the North Yorkshire Police
and Harrogate Borough Council. It is a body of people who liaise between the Police
and the Residents of a Local Community with the aim of preventing crime before it
happens, by being the "eyes and ears for of the police for unusual or suspicious
occurrences."
In October each year there is an open AGM of the Harrogate & District Watch, which
is advertised on the Village Notice Board. It is open for all to attend, and the
organisation is always looking for people who can dedicate a few hours to help. The
National Watch week occurs in June each year when the aims and ambitions of the scheme
are promoted.
In Arkendale there is a Ring-a-Round Scheme which enables the villagers to be very
quickly alerted to any matter which the police consider should be widely know about.
The Neighbourhood watch scheme also disseminates information by the Parish Magazine, the
Village Notice board, the Village Hall and this website.
